BUSH FIRE ADVICE

As you join us in this vibrant location, it’s crucial to be aware of the potential risks associated with bushfires and the measures in place to ensure your safety.

1. VicEmergency App:
We strongly recommend that all delegates install the VicEmergency app on their smartphones upon arrival. This app provides real-time information on emergency incidents, including bushfires, and offers critical updates, warnings, and advice. You can download the app from this link.

2. Fire Danger Rating System:
Australia has implemented a new fire danger rating system to help you understand the level of risk on high fire danger days. Please pay attention to the fire danger ratings, especially on extreme or catastrophic fire danger days.

3. National Park Closures:
In the event of extreme or catastrophic fire danger days, national parks may be closed to ensure the safety of visitors. We advise all delegates to check the VicEmergency app or local authorities for any park closures during your stay.

4. Emergency Notifications:
In the unlikely event of a fire in the area during the conference, digital road signage will be deployed to provide real-time information on detours, road closures, and areas that should not be visited. Stay informed and adhere to any instructions given by emergency services.

5. Venue Preparedness:
Rest assured that the conference venue, the Mantra Lorne, is well-prepared for emergency situations. The venue staff is trained to respond effectively to any emergency event, including bushfires. They will be closely monitoring the situation and will provide guidance and assistance as needed.
